The new Usher, now on his seventh studio album, Looking for Myself. Check out Climax, the first single from the album set to be released in June 2012. Watch Usher talk about the meaning of the lyrics on Atlanta’s V103 radio station (Watch on YouTube).
You’ve gotta love social media. Thanks to Twitter I discovered Dre Skuffs of New Jersey. I like the the 90s sound of this track, a concious rap pulled from the golden era of hip hop. Top points on the choice of beat used to lay down some dope lyrics. There’s something honest and personal about the song. It could be the black and white video, the lack of bling and extravagant lifestyles, and also the decision to feature feature family and friends. Real people that most can relate to. He also directs and edits his own videos. Shout out to Dre Skruffs and producer N-Omega for keepin’ so simple, but make it look so good. Read Dre Skuffs’ bio.
Mission BC’s very own, Carly Rae Jepsen, is a former Canadian Idol contestant who finished third in 2007. After a series of bold career choices and two studio albums later, she’s turned into a sensation. Call Me Maybe, a hit single on her second album topped charts worldwide making Jepsen only the 4th Canadian artist to top the Canadian Billboard Hot 100. She is now signed to the same record label as Justin Bieber, Schoolboy Records. Schoolboy Records was founded by Scooter Braun, the Biebs’ manager. Let’s also not forget that she is still with Chad Kroeger’s 604 Records.
I hadn’t heard anything from Missy since she took time off, and we later learnt that it was because she was diagnosed with Graves disease. So you can imagine my excitement when I first played Nobody’s Perfect, for a moment I thought I was listening to Aaliyah. I’m really glad that we might get to see more of Missy Elliot in the coming months. Enjoy the new video from J Cole and the great Missy Elliot.
“Nobody’s perfect, uh, Nobody’s Perfect, aye/ but you’re perfect for me.”
Soldier Story by The Chef featuring Toronto’s JD Era. This track is on Raekwon’s new mixtape, Unexpected Victory. Canada you can get more of JD Era on the mixtape.
Sophia Grace and Rosie’s first original song. They sample Drake’s The Motto for this song about Disneyland. This little girl throws down on this track. She’s got so much attitude for an 8 year old and her enthusiasm is just infectious. Makes you love the rap more. The swag is on another level. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.
This is probably the best song off Drake’s Take Care. The Motto is the one track you can guarantee to set the club off. You Only Live Once, and that’s The Motto. Ask Zac Efron who went as far as getting the tattoo on his right hand. Check out the pictures here.

I think it’s great when artists come together to support less privileged groups in their communities. It’s like uncle Ben says, ‘with great power, comes great responsibility’. Kudos to The Collective for putting this together for BBC Children in Need 2011. Heard this track on radio a couple weeks back and I thought the lyrics were inspiring. The song is a remix of Massive Attack‘s Teardrop. The original video features a singing fetus which is kind of creepy but the great song keeps you watching. Check the video out on YouTube.
The Collective features Tinchy Stryder, Chipmunk, Ms. Dynamite, Ed Sheeran, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Wretch 32, Rizzle Kicks, MZ Bratt, Dot Rotten and Labrinth.
